Ying-Chieh Tsai is a distinguished professor at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at National Yang-Ming University, where he has held the position since 1983. He received Ph.D. in Microbiology from Tokyo University. Professor Tsai founded the Taiwan Association of Lactic Acid Bacteria where he served as President during until 2006. He served concurrently as Vice-President of the Asian Federation of Societies for Lactic Acid Bacteria, after which he served as President until 2009. In addition to his academic achievements, Professor Tsai actively pursues several commercial ventures, including Yangsen Biotechnology Co. Ltd. which he founded in 2002, Kei-Sei-Ken Biotechnology Co, Ltd. two years later, and most recently, Bened Biomedical Co. Ltd. in 2015. Currently, Professor Tsai specializes in psychobiotics and conducts ground-breaking research on the microbiota-gut brain axis where he explores its commercial and health benefits.
